Telling The Truth About The Digital Designer. Freelance

Usually, designers are not required to have a higher education. But in some areas it is necessary. As an example, costume designers and industrial designers have to spend a lot of time in workshops before learning how to do something cool. Among the graphic designers there are many people with higher education in the profile.

But now we are talking about digital.

Advanced training programs have not yet been invented for digital designers. This specialization can be mastered in six months, and then only practice. Basically, such work consists of creative solutions. There is little room for a flight of imagination and a rampant creative thought.

Routine is communication with the client, "make me redder red" and task analysis. If you are disgusted with taste, then the profession will obviously strain you. Get ready that you will have to enter into correspondence with people who do not understand how the picture on the site works.

The most important quality for you as a UX designer is the ability to negotiate. You'll probably have a lot of ideas, and development will probably butt heads with you. It's good if you know how to push through your decisions.

The hardest part is freelancing. You understand the advantages yourself: you independently regulate your fee and the amount of work.

Cons: burnout, work without days off and breaks.
More pros: you can earn more than colleagues in companies.

Only we warn you against illusions in the first couple about the queue of customers. Experienced and eminent designers can afford to choose a customer for themselves, and at the very beginning of the journey it is almost unrealistic.

Freelance design is not about passive income. It will be necessary to plow. A lot. But then you can choose for yourself what is nicer to you.
